Modern Buddhism: Buddhist psychology and philosophy for our times
Wednesdays, every week – 18.30 to 20.30
with Kadam Tim
In this regular and ongoing series of classes, you will be introduced to the main themes of Buddhism. We will cover topics such as Understanding the mind, Buddhist faith, Refuge and protection, Karma and purification, the Nature of reality and Tantra (inner protection for the mind).
What happens at this class?
The classes consist of teachings, meditation, discussion and question & answer. Classes are also social events where there is an opportunity to meet like-minded people – both Danish and international.
Traditionally, Buddhist teachings begin with some chanted meditations. These last between 5 and 15 minutes and will be explained. You are free to engage in these or not as you wish.,
The classes are open to anyone on a “drop-in” basis. For those who wish to start on our Foundation Program in the new year, the series will provide a good grounding in the main Buddhist themes.
There will be an emphasis on the practical application of Buddhism to our daily life, to solve our problems and develop calm and happy minds. The series is based on the book Modern Buddhism by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso which can be downloaded for free here or purchased in the Centre bookshop.
