About the meditation retreat
Escape the stress and busyness of life and discover the peace of meditation for yourself. This retreat is suitable for everyone, and provides an excellent introduction to meditation. Taught by Kadampa Buddhist teacher Kadam Mark, experienced retreat leader and inspiring teacher, it offers a unique opportunity to experience stillness within in the tranquil setting of Langebæk retreat centre.
This retreat will be based on the essence of Kadampa practice – the Heart Jewel sadhana – around which we can build our daily practice of Sutra and Tantra. Kadam Mark will give a commentary to this essential practice and explain how we can integrate everything we have learnt into the practice. This will be the first time that we have had specific teachings on this central practice of Kadampa Buddhism, and is a perfect preparation for the Je Tsongkhapa empowerment later this year. The aim is to allow each of us to build our own daily meditation routine that will fit into our everyday lives. An integrated practice can be done in as little 30 minutes.
What is a meditation retreat?
A meditation retreat gives us the opportunity to take a break from our busy life and take some time out to gain deeper experience of meditation and its benefits. On retreat you will discover how meditation helps improve our overall levels of inner peace, happiness and well-being. This can give us great encouragement and confidence in our ability to continue to enjoy meditation and its benefits long after the retreat is over.
The retreat program
The weekend starts with an introduction session at 7.30pm on Friday, 2nd November. A light supper will be served at 6pm on Friday 2nd, before the retreat starts. The retreat finishes at 12.30pm on Sunday, 4th November. Following the introduction on Friday, there will be 4 talks and guided meditation sessions on Saturday and 2 talks and guided meditation sessions on Sunday. In each session Kadam Mark will explain clearly how to engage in the particular meditation and its benefits for our daily life. Then he will guide each meditation, enabling us to gain deep experience of each meditation and its benefits. All talks and meditations will be in clear, easy to understand English. During the breaks you can take a peaceful walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside and quiet nearby forest. Also, you can simply relax or chat with the other people on the retreat, in what is always a warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere.
