Self-acceptance: afternoon workshop

April, Sat 28th | 13.30 – 16.45 | With Gen Daö | KMC CPH

So much of our tension and unhappiness arises because we do not accept ourselves the way we are. We can be our own harshest judge and this can rob us of our confidence and peace of mind.

Buddha taught methods that enable us to truly accept ourselves and be at peace with ourselves. Developing deep self-acceptance is the first step to being able to change and abandon unhelpful habits.

This course will share some reliable methods for learning to accept ourselves. The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Workshop fee: 250kr | students 150kr | Members 30kr

Death: teachings for a happy life

May, Sat 5th | 10:00 – 13:15 | with Gen Daö

We are alive therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth. Contemplating our own mortality leads to a profoundly worry-free and happy life. By cutting through our worldly concerns the meditation on death quickly eliminates all our ordinary worries and anxieties.

On this day course Gen Kelsang Dao will explain the meditation on death and how it destroys our desirous attachment, thereby leading us to an enjoyable and successful spiritual life. She will also explain the process of dying and how we can help others die joyfully.

The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Letting go of anxiety

May, Sat 12th | 10.30 – 13.15 | With Gen Daö | KMC CPH

Anxiety and stress are increasingly common problems for people in our busy, modern world. These states of mind prevent us from experiencing peace and enjoying life.

Meditation is an effective way to combat negative states of mind and create a sense of mental freedom. By gaining experience of Buddhist meditation techniques and positive thinking we can learn to control our mind, rather than allowing our mind to control us. By learning to accept painful feelings rather than being panicked by them we can keep a calm and happy mind in all situations.

The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Workshop fee: 250kr | students 150kr | Members 30kr

Happiness: How to understand the mind

May, Sat 19th | 10.00 – 13.15 | With Tim Larcombe | KMC CPH

Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind.

On this course we will gain a deep insight into our mind, and discover how an understanding of its nature and functions can be used practically in everyday experience to improve our lives. Learn how to recognise and abandon states of mind that harm us, replace them with peaceful and beneficial ones, and start to make happiness your immediate reality.

The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Fearless

June, Sat 9th | 10.30 – 13.15 | With Kelsang Jangdom | KMC CPH

At this one-day meditation course, special guest teacher Kelsang Jangdom will explain how to understand and overcome our fears.

Everybody experiences fear from time to time, whether it be fear of what people think of us, fear of the future or fear of failure. If our fear becomes extreme, we can feel paralyzed and overwhelmed, unable to make decisions or move forward with our life.

According to Buddha’s teachings it is possible to transcend our fears and attain a state of fearlessness. But this can only be accomplished through investigating them and uncovering their source in our own uncontrolled minds.

The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Workshopsavgift: 250 SEK (190 DKK) – Students 150 SEK (115 DKK)

international events

Every year, our tradition, the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organises world-wide programs on modern Buddhism and meditation to explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living. The programs include International Festivals, National Festivals and Dharma Celebrations. Everyone is welcome, Buddhist or not.

The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energised.
