The art of forgiveness

March, Sat 18th | 10:00 to 13:15 | with Kadam Adam | KMC CPH

We can all feel hurt sometimes, as a result of the words or actions of others. We may find it hard to let go of that hurt and forgive others. This often leads to us feeling anger or resentment. If we don’t have a skilful way to recognise and let go of that hurt, anger and resentment it can easily undermine our peace of mind and happiness, as well as harmony in our relationships.

Also, we may say or do hurtful things to others from time-to-time, and find it hard to forgive ourself. This feeling of guilt and shame can leave us feeling bad about ourself and undermine our peace of mind and self-esteem.

In this workshop we will learn proven meditations and methods that enable us to change this. We will learn how we can view every situation with the wisdom and compassion that empowers us to let go of feelings of hurt, anger or resentment towards others, or guilt and shame towards ourself.

In this way, we will learn how to cultivate the self-confidence and compassion that enables us to authentically forgive others, and ourself. This strong and courageous mind of forgiveness, enables us to respond to the challenges of life with a peaceful, positive mind and cultivate harmony in our relationships. The morning will include talks & guided meditations in clear, easy-to-understand English.

Free public talk (Nørrebro)
Meditation & the pursuit of happiness

March, Sun 26th | 14:00 to 15:30 | with Kadam Adam | Osramhuset, Valhalsgade 4, 2200 Copenhagen N

Discover how meditation and mindfulness can help everyone find a deep and long lasting feeling of happiness, well-being and fulfilment in their lives. We all want to be happy and free from problems all the time. If we check, we devote all our time and energy to this pursuit. Maybe we have worked hard and have a life that looks good on the outside, with a good job, home etc. Yet, still we can all feel something is missing, and that we haven’t yet found the lasting peace of mind, happiness and fulfilment on the inside that we seek.

In this free talk (at Osramhuset, Nørrebro), Kadam Adam will explore how everyone can learn to meditate, and discover for themselves, that it is entirely possible to fulfil these wishes. We will realise that training in meditation and mindfulness enables everyone to create a life that not only looks good on the outside, but one that feels genuinely and consistently good on the inside. We can cultivate a new found sense of inner peace, mental freedom and happiness to bring to all areas of our life, from the “inside-out”.

The event will be in clear, easy to understand English. It will include a talk on this topic and a deeply relaxing guided meditation. Everyone is welcome.

Countryside meditation retreat

Peace, Clarity, Potential

April, Fri 21st to Sun 23rd | with Kadam Adam | Langebaek Retreat Centre

Enjoy a unique and deeply relaxing weekend of meditation, in the tranquil setting of Langebaek retreat centre. Set in the beautiful southern Zealand countryside, everyone is welcome to join this retreat. It is suitable for those who are are new to meditation and those with experience.

About the meditation retreat

Discover how we all have an inner potential for self-transformation and a limitless capacity for the development of peace of mind, happiness and good qualities such as love, compassion and wisdom.

We will learn special meditations drawn from the highly practical and profound set of practices known as the ‘Mahamudra meditations’, that enable everyone to fully realise this potential. These inspiring meditations have been practised for centuries and are proven methods to gain deep experience of the nature and extraordinary potential of our mind and self.

We will learn how to engage in meditation on the nature of the mind, sometimes called ‘The clarity of the mind’ meditation. Through this practice we can experience the natural peace, clarity and limitless potential of our mind. We will see how experience of this meditation enables us to easily let go of perceived faults and limiting beliefs that we may hold about ourself. We will also become confident in our ability to cultivate our inner potential for good qualities, inner peace and joy.

We will also learn how to train in a special meditation that enables us to experience the true nature of our self. We will realise that we are not as fixed, stuck or limited as we can often feel we are. In truth, we exist in a state of profound freedom and limitless potential. Connecting with this sense of freedom in meditation we become confident that we can change, reach our highest potential, and live the truly happy, meaningful and fulfilling life we want.

What is a meditation retreat?

A meditation retreat gives us the opportunity to take a break from our busy life and take some time out to deeply relax. We give ourself time to focus on gaining deeper experience of meditation and its benefits. On retreat you will discover how meditation improves your overall levels of inner peace, happiness and well-being. This can give us great encouragement and confidence in our ability to continue to enjoy meditation and its benefits long after the retreat is over.

The retreat program

The weekend starts with an introduction session at 7.30pm on Friday, 21st April. A light supper will be served at 6pm on Friday 21st, before the retreat starts. It finishes at 3.30pm on Sunday, 23rd.

There will be 4 x talks and guided meditation sessions on Saturday and 3 x talks and guided sessions on Sunday. In each session Kadam Adam will explain clearly how to engage in the particular meditation and its benefits for our daily life. Then he will guide each meditation, enabling us to gain deep experience of each meditation and its benefits. All talks and meditations will be in clear, easy to understand English.

During the breaks you can take a peaceful walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside and quiet nearby forest. Also, you can simply relax or chat with the other people on the retreat, in what is always a warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere.

international events

Every year, our tradition, the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organises world-wide programs on modern Buddhism and meditation to explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living. The programs include International Festivals, National Festivals and Dharma Celebrations. Everyone is welcome, Buddhist or not.

The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energised.

Nordic Dharma Festival 2017 (Oslo)

Advice for a happy life & Je Tsongkhapa Empowerment
March 3rd to 5th, with Gen-la Jampa

What is the secret for leading a happy and meaningful life? At this special weekend event with visiting International Buddhist Teacher Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, we can discover how to activate our potential for lasting inner peace, joy and real mental freedom.

In the teachings known as the Kadampa Way of Life, three essential meditation practices known as the three principal aspects of the path are described. These meditations can be understood and practically applied by anyone to find genuine and lasting solutions to our daily problems of stress, anxiety, frustration and disappointment. Moreover, these three meditations reveal the full depth and scope of the Buddhist Spiritual Path to benefit both ourself and others. In this way we will become a powerful and much-needed source of wisdom, peace and joy in the world. What could be more meaningful than this?

In this, his first visit to the Nordic region, Gen-la Jampa will also grant the empowerment of the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, who originally composed the Three Principal Aspects of the Path. The empowerment will take the form of a deeply peaceful guided meditation through which we can connect to a powerful source of wisdom that will sustain us throughout our spiritual life. We will also have the opportunity to take these precious teachings to heart with morning meditation sessions guided by Gen Kelsang Tubchen, the Spiritual Director of the NKT in the Nordic Region.

The festival will be taught in clear, easy to understand English.
