August, Thurs 17th | 19:00 to 20:30 | with Gen Daö | at KMC CPH

Discover how meditation and mindfulness can help everyone find a deep and lasting feeling of inner peace, happiness, well-being and fulfilment in their lives. We all want to be happy and free from problems all the time. If we check, we devote all our time and energy to this pursuit. Maybe we have worked hard and have a life that looks good on the outside, with a good job, home etc. Yet, still we can all feel something is missing, and that we haven’t yet found the lasting peace of mind, happiness and fulfilment on the inside that we all seek.

In this free public talk at the Kadampa Meditation Centre, Gen Daö will explore how everyone can learn to meditate, and discover for themselves, that it is entirely possible to fulfil these wishes for inner peace & happiness. We will realise that training in meditation and mindfulness enables everyone to create a life that not only looks good on the outside, but one that feels genuinely and consistently good on the inside. We can cultivate a new found sense of inner peace, mental freedom and happiness to bring to all areas of our life, from the “inside-out”. The talk will be in clear, easy-to-understand English and will include a deeply relaxing guided meditation.

Letting go of self-criticism, embracing our potential

August, Sat 26th |10:00 to 13:15 | with Gen Daö | at KMC CPH

Discover the peace of mind and freedom that comes from letting go of unhealthy self-criticism and embracing our inner potential. We can often be our own worse critic. This unhelpful inner dialogue can easily prevent us from fully enjoying life and realising our full potential.

In this workshop we will explore how it is always possible to be honest with ourself, but without the unhealthy self-criticism that often comes with that honesty. We will learn meditations and practises for daily life that enable us to recognise and let go of unhelpful self-criticism. Instead we will learn how to connect to a natural and consistent sense of inner peace, joy and freedom within our own mind. This enables us to recognise and identify with the potential for happiness, love and other good qualities that exist within each and everyone of us.

We will learn how we can all live and grow from this sense of our own inner potential, free from self-criticism. In this way we will develop a strong sense of self-esteem and confidence that knows we are always moving toward the happy and fulfilling life we all wish for. The workshop will include talks and guided meditations in clear, easy-to-undertsand English. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience of meditation.

Workshop fee: 250kr | students 150kr | members – brunch only 30kr

Puja / Chanted meditation sessions (with tsog)

Discover the peaceful spiritual energy that comes from engaging in chanted Buddhist meditation practices in a group setting. Experience for yourself the richness of the Kadampa Buddhist meditation tradition to discover a deep peace of mind and happiness that comes from making a heartfelt connection with enlightenment, and awakening our inner potential for love, compassion and wisdom.

We offer regular group chanted meditation sessions (known as pujas in Sanskrit) at Kadampa Meditation Centre, Copenhagen, that are open to everyone and free of charge. These are beautiful chanted Buddhist prayers, (chanted in English). They have been practised for centuries by Kadampa Buddhist meditators and are a perfect method to help everyone (Buddhist and non-Buddhist) make a connection with enlightenment, awaken our spiritual energy and potential and contribute towards creating a more peaceful and compassionate world.

Whilst our pujas are open to everyone, it is generally helpful to attend introductory meditation classes before attending these pujas. People sit on chairs or on cushions on the floor. Puja booklets (known as sadhanas) are available if you would like to participate in the chanting. Also, you can simply sit back, relax and enjoy listening to the chanting. The understanding, meaning and benefits of the pujas will become clear over time. Unlike other events at KMC Copenhagen, pujas do not involve teaching or guided meditations.

On this page you will find details of our monthly special puja schedule known as tsog offering pujas (see below for explanations). Our spring / summer tsog puja schedule is as follows:-

September 1st, Friday – 18:00 to 19:15 – Wishfulfilling Jewel (with tsog)
September 29th, Friday – 18:00 to 19:15 – Wishfulfilling Jewel (with tsog)
October 20th, Friday – 18:00 to 19:15 – Wishfulfilling Jewel (with tsog)
November 17th, Friday – 18:00 to 19:15 – Wishfulfilling Jewel (with tsog)
December 10th, Sunday – 13:00 to 15:00 – Offering to the Spiritual Guide (with tsog)

Wishfulfilling Jewel Puja (with tsog)

This is an extended version of ‘Heart Jewel Puja’ which is the heart practise of the Kadampa Buddhist meditation tradition. In the first part we make a heartfelt connection with the wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, and then make special prayers and requests to purify negativity & obstacles in our life, accumulate positive energy or merit, and receive blessings / inspiration.

There is a 10 minute silent period in the middle of the puja for personal meditation. In this silent period we can either meditate on the stages of the path to enlightenment (known as Lamrim) or engage in a meditation of our own choice.

In the second part of the puja, we make special Buddhist prayers to the Dharma Protector, the wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our spiritual practice and create favourable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our spiritual realisations of love, compassion, wisdom and so forth. This practice includes a tsog offering (see description below).

Offering to the Spiritual Guide Puja (with tsog)

This is a special chanted meditation practise of the Guru Yoga of Je Tsongkhapa. In this practise we make a connection with enlightenment by seeing the wisdom Buddha as inseparable from our Spiritual Guide. Through engaging in this chanted meditation practice our love, compassion, wisdom, and spiritual power naturally increase. This practice includes a tsog offering (see description below).

What is a tsog offering?

A tsog offering is a special offering (usually of vegetarian food and / or non-alcoholic drink), which we make to the Buddhas to make a special heartfelt connection with them and receive their inspiration and help on the spiritual path. You can bring a vegetarian food or non-alcoholic drink offering with you if you wish.

After the tsog puja everyone is very welcome to stay behind, as we usually have a little social get together, chat and share food and drink from the tsog offering. A great way to relax get to know the Sangha, our community of meditators here at the Centre, and meet with friends old and new!
