Class description
“Do I have a good heart at the moment?”.
This is a good question to ask ourself, as it tells us about our present state of mind. For most of us, the answer will sometimes be “Yes” and sometimes “No”. Related questions might be “What is a good heart anyway and why do I sometimes feel I have one and sometimes not?”
To the question “Would I like to have a good heart more often?” – most would probably answer “Yes” to that – indicating that deep down we do know that a good heart brings good results.
In this series we will explore Buddha’s explanation about why we sometimes feel we have a good heart and why sometimes we don’t (Delusions and the law of karma). We’ll also discover how to get one when we don’t have one (Meditation and training in love and compassion).
Through understanding how our mind works we can then develop the beneficial habit of finding and keeping a good heart, and be certain that it will create good results. In fact, as we will discover, finding and keeping a good heart will make the world a better place – literally!
(The topic of this class is related to the Nordic National Festival weekend coming up from March 17-19 in Stockholm “The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness”)
About the classes
We will explore theses topics in this series of Monday classes during February. Each class can be attended individually or as part or the series and consists of an explanation of meditation, two guided meditations, a teaching, some discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.
As these teachings originate from Buddha, there will be short prayer in English during the class. However, you do not need to be a Buddhist or have any particular belief or faith to join the class and participate. Buddha taught for everyone.
Most people sit on chairs, though some meditation cushions are available. No previous experience is needed and you can “drop-in” to any class on Mondays. Tea is served from 17.45 and everyone is welcome 🙂
