Class description
The holiday season is coming up! How do you feel about it? Like everything else, whether we enjoy it or not depends upon our state of mind :-). Fortunately there is a lot we can do to develop and maintain a good state of mind – even during the holiday season, which we know can be quite intense, physically and mentally.
Training in the mind of giving is something we can do to make our holiday season meaningful and enjoyable. In this series we will explore how we can expand our concept of giving, train in giving and enjoy giving so that eventually we can see our whole life as an act of giving. Each week we will look at a different aspect of giving – Giving material things, giving love, giving fearlessness and giving Dharma – or good advice. It is likely that we will find opportunties to practice all these different types of giving during the holiday season.
We will also train in managing our mind so we can act wisely no matter what state our mind is in. Sometimes our mind is so busy that meditation seems impossible. However, there is always something we can do with our mind to improve the situation, and each week we will look at a different meditation and mindfulness practice that we can use, appropriate for the state of mind we find we have.
Each class consists of two meditations, a teaching, some discussion and an opportunity to ask questions. Most people sit on chairs, though some meditation cushions are available. No previous experience is needed and you “walk-in” to any class on Mondays. Tea is served from 17,30 and everyone is welcome 🙂
