Do you feel as if you’ve never quite done enough? Do you find it hard to switch off – even when you want to? Do your thoughts refuse to allow you to sleep? If so, then welcome to the club! These are common symptoms of modern life and a culture of “always-on”. But this is not a way to live. And we definitely need new ways of thinking and tools to achieve real down time.
We can find the tools that we need in ancient wisdom that has been tried and tested, “peer-reviewed” over millennia by busy people just like you. So we know that it works. Would you also like to train your mind to let go of buzzing thoughts, worries, and anxieties?
Meditation is focused “downtime”. By giving ourselves genuine “downtime” we restore balance and vitality to our mind. Meditation makes us healthier, happier and wiser.
In this workshop you will learn the benefits of meditation, how to meditate and how to build a meditation practice. Eventually you will discover for yourself the inner strength that comes from being able to sit and (apparently) do nothing. You will learn, together with like-minded people, how to give yourself a genuine break – and how productive this makes you when you return to busy, everyday life.
About this workshop
This workshop is one is a series that has been requested by and tailored for students and young professionals grappling with these common challenges. We plan to hold one of these special workshops every 3 months.
Everyone is welcome to join. No previous experience of meditation is needed, nor is any special clothing required. Most people sit on chairs, though meditation cushions are provided for those that wish to use them.
The workshops will be presented in easy-to-understand English and will be attended by people with a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
Each workshop consists of two teaching sessions with meditations, and a light refreshment is served between them. There’s also the opportunity to ask questions, discuss, and socialise with others.
NB. Please, notice that this event has been moved from 14/1 to 21/1 due to the coronation.
