The Purifying Power of Compassion - Kadampa Meditation Centre CPH
Monday meditation
The Purifying Power of Compassion
13 May kl 18:00 - 19:40

Join “The Purifying Power of Compassion” to learn a proven meditation practice for purifying our own mind and increasing our capacity to benefit others.

In this class, we will delve into the powerful practice of ‘Taking’, an ancient method practiced by past meditation masters to enhance their compassion and purify negativities. With this practice, we will cultivate the compassionate and superior intention to alleviate the suffering of others. We train in mentally taking on the suffering of others as our own. This functions to purify our own mind of negative karma.

The meditations will be guided, and all are welcome to attend. By learning this meditation and practicing regularly, we will discover many situations where it can be used to the great benefit of ourselves and others.

Join us for this transformative Monday Meditation and discover the profound impact that the practice of ‘Taking’ can have on our lives.

About the series

This class is part of a 23 week series based on “The New Meditation Handbook” by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, which explains the step-by-step stages of the path to enlightenment known as “Lamrim” in Tibetan. This structured presentation of Buddha’s teachings is very helpful for modern people.

“The meditation practices presented in this book are actual methods to control our mind. Because everyone has different wishes and capacities, many different levels of meditation practice are given […]. By continuously engaging in these meditations with joy and patience, we will accomplish the ultimate goal of human life.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

During this series you will learn 21 meditations and become familiar with the sadhana “Prayers for Meditation”. For anyone wishing to read along and practise the meditations at home, “The New Meditation Handbook” and the sadhana “Prayers for Meditation” can be purchased at the Copenhagen Centre.
