“In Buddhism, emptiness has great meaning. It is the real nature of things, and is a very profound and meaningful object.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
How do I create the life that I want?
The starting point is to learn to develop and maintain a calm mind. A calm mind is a clear mind, and a clear mind can understand how to assemble the causes and conditions needed to create the life we want.
In addition to a calm mind, to develop the life we want we need to know how things exist, and how to bring them into existence.
In this workshop we will explore Buddha’s teachings on the nature of reality, known as “emptiness” – the true nature of things. From this we can understand how everything is possible. Once the causes and conditions are assembled, nothing can prevent the result appearing. The workshop will also include some teachings on karma.
About this workshop
Everyone is welcome to join our Saturday morning workshops. No previous experience of meditation is needed, nor is any special clothing required. Most people sit on chairs, though meditation cushions are provided for those that wish to use them.
The workshops are presented in easy-to-understand English and are attended by people with a great variety of backgrounds and cultures. As the workshop takes place in a buddhist meditation centre, it will start with a short buddhist prayer.
Each workshop consists of two teaching sessions with meditations, and a light brunch is served between them.
