If I die today, where will I be tomorrow?

“When we die our mind has to leave this present body, which is just a temporary abode, and find another body, rather like a bird leaving one nest to fly to another” – from “The New Meditation Handbook” by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Through Buddha’s wisdom we can understand our mind as a continuum; We have had many former lives and we will have many lives in the future. Wanting to know about our future is both a timeless and interesting question.

So, join us for another thought-provoking meditation class when we ask “If I die today, where will I be tomorrow?”

About the series

This class is part of a 23 week series based on “The New Meditation Handbook” by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, which explains the step-by-step stages of the path to enlightenment known as “Lamrim” in Tibetan. This structured presentation of Buddha’s teachings is very helpful for modern people.

“The meditation practices presented in this book are actual methods to control our mind. Because everyone has different wishes and capacities, many different levels of meditation practice are given […]. By continuously engaging in these meditations with joy and patience, we will accomplish the ultimate goal of human life.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

During this series you will learn 21 meditations and become familiar with the sadhana “Prayers for Meditation”. For anyone wishing to read along and practise the meditations at home, “The New Meditation Handbook” and the sadhana “Prayers for Meditation” can be purchased at the Copenhagen Centre.

Joining a class

Each class can be attended individually or as part of the series and consists of two guided meditations, a teaching, some discussion, and an opportunity to ask questions.

You do not need to be a Buddhist or have any particular belief or faith to join the class and participate – Buddha taught for everyone. With an open mind we guarantee that you will learn a lot and emerge a wiser and more skilled meditator!

Most people sit on chairs, though some meditation cushions are available. No previous experience is needed and you can “drop-in” to any class on Mondays.

Doors open at 17:45. After the class you’re invited to stay for tea to enjoy a community of like-minded people.

Everyone is welcome.
